Friday Free-for-All Part 1: More Time! (Devotion)

***Today's Friday Free-for-All is 3 posts packed into one day (Devotion, Decorating & Do it Yourself). Each post ties together so be sure to read all three and enjoy. Happy Friday! ***

Ladies,

I have three boys: Michael(5), Dillon(3) and Sam(22months). Needless to say we are an active and passionate group of five. There is never a dull moment and rarely a quiet one.

If I could change one thing in my life it would be to add more time to a day. More time to read, study, organize, catch up on email, facebook, blogging, reality TV, decorate, capture memories, create memories, catch up with old friends, catch up with new friends, expose my children to all kinds of new adventures, teach my children, read to my kids, find new recipes, work out, nap, get my nails done, the list goes on and on and on... you get the picture.

My mom made an interesting statement to me about how my generation is always in the car...on the go...having a plan. Where are the people who just stay home!? Time is determined. It cannot be stopped, slowed down, or increased. We cannot go back and we can't go forward.

We can only be still and know that He is God. Psalm 46:10 That He has a plan for us. Jeremiah 29:11 That he gave us our first breath and has already determined our last.Psalm 139:16 He also has done this for our husbands and our children.

So, stop! Enjoy this day, this week, this month. The days are long but the years are short. Take the yoke He provides for you and take the one off that you have created for yourself! Matthew 11:29-30

After I had my second I wasn't really sure how I was going to keep up with "it all". That is when God showed me the myth of "having it all." In order for me to be the best mom I could be, God first had to do some work on my heart and my priorities. He may want to work on you as well if you are willing to let Him.

I highly recommend the book Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World. It was a great resource for me as I entered this world of motherhood. If you are looking for some practical tools check out this book.

Blessing!
Annie

The book is a great one for a small summer Bible study in your house. Something to keep you going through the summer but with little homework. There are questions in the back of the book for discussion.
