We are still finalizing the blog design and you'll meet ALL of the women of Roof with a View very soon, but in the meantime, we are going to go ahead and get started with this weekly post, Wednesday in the Word.
My name is Glenda and I am so thrilled to have been asked to share with you on Wednesdays from the Bible.
Jesus and the Bible have changed my life and it all began when I was a mom like many of you. It was a point in my life that I needed some encouragement and directions. Even though I had been a Christian for quite some time, I just felt restless and aimless. I began to read the book of Acts and it changed my life. It is my prayer for you, that even if you have never felt restless or in need of encouragement, that God would change your life in our time together on Wednesdays.
The theme verse of this blog is a great place to start:
"What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops."
We all hear women every day that want peace.
Peace in their home.
Peace with their friends.
Peace with the world.
Most importantly, peace in their heart.
When we get out of bed in the morning, it seems every minute works against any kind of peace. Even as you read this, your child is crying, juice has just been spilled (which if you haven't noticed makes a sticky floor), the phone rings, you are already late, and you haven't even gotten out of your pajamas.
If you are reading this and are still in your pajamas, as I am, because we have a snow day today, relax and enjoy. I want to talk to you a little about a peace that will make the rest of your day peaceful.
After you read this, spend a little time with God. Get your Bible, sit down somewhere reasonably quiet (even if it is only two minutes). Ask God to speak to you from His Word. The Bible is God's Word and it is for us to use as a manual. These little times of devotion each Wednesday will be from the Bible and no other book because it is the only TRUE standard that God set up for us to follow. The Bible is where we learn about Jesus, what we as followers of Him are promised, and about the tremendous blessings we enjoy. Most importantly, when we spend time with Him we begin to recognize His voice.
I have never heard His audible voice but I know when He speaks to me, because every day for 35 years I have spent time with Him. His voice is a whisper in my soul that I recognize. It is those whispers, which I have heard in times of joy and sorrow, that I want to shout from the rooftops. I want to shout it because His voice has freed me, rescued me, instructed me, loved me and I could go on and on.
The roof to the Israeli had a central function, but for the purpose of this devotion, it was a place where they could go and shout down to the street to be heard loud and clear.
I am shouting...
HE LOVES YOU.
HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU.
HE HAS GREAT PLANS FOR YOU.
Until next Wednesday, may you hear His whispers and share what you hear with others.
I love you and the Lord bless you.
Glenda

I feel like I can hear you shouting all the way here to me in Georgia! Thank you for this message. And, thank you for using the Bible as your guide. You're SO right about that!!!
Reading your blog, and celebrating the morning in my PJ's from the basement office and about to wake up the chaos. Looking forward to reading this blog, getting inspired, and digging into my Bible with y'all, even if from a distance! xoxo-K
Kaelin,
It is so wonderful to think that you will be doing this with us all the way from the Big MN.
Tell your friends to join us as well.
Love,
Glenda
Hi! This blog is a great idea! I can't wait to be inspired each day! Thank you Glenda for your loving thoughts and word from the bible. I can't wait to read more.
What a wonderful message to wake up to! Thanks ladies! As my youngest child woke up early this morning and the day started out with bad dreams and went to "can I please play a computer game?" I considered not doing my devotions, now, I will do it, even if it is two minutes! Thanks!
